Obituary for Teressa Wampler

Teressa Ann Wampler was born December 13, 1930 to Edward and Margaret (Thomas) Duden at her grandparents’ home in Humeston, IA. She passed away November 4, 2019 at Corydon Specialty Care.

Teressa attended White Country School south of Allerton and graduated in 1949 from Allerton High School. She met her lifelong love Robert (Bob) Wampler the summer before her high school graduation and they were united in marriage on December 31, 1948. To this marriage three children were born, Mark, David, and Rebecca.

Bob and Teressa farmed in the Corydon and Seymour area until the mid-1950s when they decided to make a career change. Bob managed farm supply businesses in Grand Junction, IA, Moravia, IA, Grant, NE, and DeWitt, IA. In 1967, Bob and Teressa purchased Teressa's parents’ farm supply business in Allerton and moved the family back to Wayne County.

Teressa supported every move the couple made, helping out with the farming, and later working part time jobs until moving back to Allerton. She worked alongside Bob at Bob & Teressa's Country Store. Faith, family and friends were extremely important to Teressa. She was a devoted member of the Allerton Methodist Church and a 45-year member of P.E.O. Chapter EU. Although raising a family and running a business took a lot of time, you could count on Teressa to organize church dinners, fundraisers, or assist with anything that she felt might help the community. She was very giving of her time and money to people who needed help.

Teressa was preceded in death by her husband Bob, son Mark, parents Margaret and Edward Duden, brother Tom Duden, sister Kathy (Duden) McQueen and brother-in-law Walt McQueen. She is survived by her son David (Jean) Wampler, daughter Rebecca (Brian) Bland, daughter-in-law Kathy Wampler, grandchildren Sara Wampler, Michael Wampler, and Andrew Wampler, step-grandchildren Jacqueline (Shawn) Richardson and Racheal (Craig) Denlinger, sister-in-law Judy Duden, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral service will be Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon with Pastor Diane Olson Schroeder officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at the Allerton Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, November 8, 2019 with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home.

Memorials may be sent to the Allerton United Methodist Church or to The Round Barn. Condolences may be shared at www.thomasfh.com or at facebook.com/thomasfuneralhome.
