AGE 98 YEARS
Janet A. Poole, of Williamsport died peacefully on Friday, Nov. 1, 2019, at her home of 60 years. She was a daughter of John Clark and Blanche E. (Errett) Altman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy B. Poole, who passed away on Oct. 21, 2006, at the age of 86, and her sister, Helen M. Charlesworth, at age 96.
Janet attended Youngwood High School, graduating valedictorian in 1939, and Greensburg Business School. She worked for Western Union, where she met a handsome sergeant in uniform, whom she later married on Sept. 4, 1946.
She was an active member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, handling attendance records and welcoming new members, along with her many other volunteer activities including Meals on Wheels, Red Cross, tutoring students, etc. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards and beating her family at Rummikub.
Surviving are son, Richard D. Poole (Barbara), of Camp Hill, two daughters, Barbara L. Files (Jay), Houston Texas, and Dr. Diane A. Heller, Louisville Colo.; four grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
FUNERAL SERVICE: St. Luke Lutheran Church, 1400 Market St., Williamsport.
BURIAL: Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.
ARRANGEMENTS: Knight-Confer Funeral Home.
