She was predeceased by her husband Wally, her parents Sam and Betty Young, her daughter Betsy (Bill) Miller, and her brother Sam Young, Jr. She is survived by her loving sons Rob (Karen), Doak (Carrie), and David (Tami) Hoover, and loving daughters Ruth Sprout and Erin (Bob) Moss. Her family's deepest appreciation and gratitude go to her long-time faithful companion and caregiver Maria de Lourdes (Lulu) Armendariz and to her sweet and gentle companion and caregiver of recent days Guadalupe (Lupita) Limas for their devoted loving care for Betty.
A very outgoing person who loved social events, gatherings and celebrations, Betty enjoyed most of all doing so with her family, her many friends, and her brothers and sisters in Christ of St. Clement's Church. A favorite activity of hers was playing bridge with her sisters-in-law Louann Feuille and Mary Hoover and with her close friends. She was especially fond of traveling with groups that included her family or friends. A highlight of her travels was a trip to the Holy Land of Israel with a group from her church led by Bishop Terrence Kelshaw.
A memorial service will be held at St. Clement's Church on Sunday, September 23 at 2:30 PM. Honorary pall bearers are Dr. Branch Craige, Dr. Muneer Assi, Dr. Eugenio Armendariz and her grandsons. In lieu of giving flowers donations may be made in her name to the Church of St. Clement, 810 N. Campbell St. El Paso, 79902.
