Phoenix - John Francis Dempsey passed away unexpectedly on January 9, 2018.

John was born in Phoenix in 1983, spending his happy childhood in Flagstaff. Over the past sixteen years, John displayed grace, courage and kindness while living with a chronic illness.

In 2016 he earned his Associates degree in Social Studies with honors from Mesa Community College and just successfully completed his first semester at ASU. For several years he regularly volunteered at the ASU Center For Applied Behavioral Health Policy and at St. Vincent de Paul's. John had earned his Peer Support Counselor certification and upon completing his eduction at ASU sought to help others facing life's difficulties.

John was a faithful participant at St. Timothy's Parish in Mesa, loving the gifted clergy there and the quiet power and grace of the Catholic liturgy.

John's loves included his family, movies, art and music. He was a wonderful and loving soul. Although our world's a poorer place without him, he's now at Peace.

A Memorial Mass will be held for John at St. John Vianney in Sedona on Monday, January 29th at 11:00, preceded by a Vigil at Greer's Mortuary in Sedona on Sunday, January 28th at 7:00 PM. John is survived by his parents, Stephanie and Jack in Sedona and his brother Daniel in Los Angeles.
