Mr. Jimmy “Papa” West, 78, of Troy, MO, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019 at SSM Hospital at Lake St. Louis. Jimmy was born on Sept. 21, 1941, the oldest child of Mr. & Mrs. West. Jimmy grew up in Oklahoma along with his five siblings. After graduation from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving for six years in California. He then began working for Eli Lilly Medical Co. Jimmy helped with the research and development of the first external heart pump along with many other projects. Due to family circumstance he moved to Missouri in 1997. He later worked for True Fitness in O’Fallon and Con-Tech Truss in Troy. Jimmy enjoyed meting up with his veteran friends at “Coffee Talk” each Thursday in town. He was a good provider for his family and loved and cherished each and everyone of them. Jimmy will be sadly missed and long remembered by all those who knew and loved him.
Surviving are his loving and devoted wife: Kayla West of Troy; his six daughters: Marion “Sissy” Long, Julie Laney, Renee West, Tina (Rob) Cody, Heather (Mike) Majors, Michelle (Derrick) Malone and three sons: John (Jiaofeng) Kevin (Charmaine) Laney and John Bordier Jr; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois West; his two children: Kathy Bair and Guy Lester; and his five siblings.

Serving as pallbearers: Nathan Cody, Boby Cody, Robbie Kasper, Kaydin Teague, Leland Logan, Dustin Logan and honorary pallbearers: John West and Jamie Kasper.
