JENNINGS, LA - Funeral services for Laura Eliza Sevier Donald, 89, of Jennings, LA were held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2007, at the Jennings United Methodist Church with Rev. Josh Milliron officiating.

Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Visitation was held at the Jennings United Methodist Church from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11 and from 9:00 am until the time of services on Thursday, July 12, 2007.

Mrs. Donald died Monday, July 9, 2007 in Shreveport, LA.

Born in Tallulah, LA on December 27, 1917, to Ada Graves and William Putnam Sevier, Sr., she was a graduate of Tallulah High School and S.L.I. in Lafayette where she was president of The Women's Student Government Association, Secretary of The Red Coats, and was a Maid on the Sugar Bowl Court in New Orleans.

After marrying Dan Lavelle Donald, Sr. in 1939, they moved to Jennings and operated W.B. Donald Chevrolet-Cadillac Company.

Mrs. Donald served on the Board of Jennings United Methodist Church and was a member of the choir, the Ruth Wesley Bible Class and taught children's Sunday school classes for many years. She was a member of The Daughter's of The American Revolution and a Charter member of Entre Nous, Revelers, and the Pink Lady American Legion Hospital Auxiliary.

Mrs. Donald devoted her life to her family, friends, and her community. She will be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit, her generosity, her compassion, and her graciousness. She enjoyed playing bridge, reading, gardening, traveling, sporting events, and entertaining. She was a gracious hostess and a genuine nurturer.

She is survived by her three children; daughter, Charlotte and husband, Judge Donald Walter of Shreveport; sons, Dan Lavelle Donald, Jr., and wife, Penny, and David Brooks Donald and wife, Brenda of Jennings, LA; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her sister, Charlotte Sevier Ziegler of Tallulah.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dan Lavelle Donald, Sr.; her brothers, Will, Jim, Barton and John Sevier; and her sisters, Nan McNeil and Ada Mae Warrick.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Robert E. Walter, Jim Sullivan, Barton Donald, Dan L. Donald, III, Dr. Seth Donald, Walter Donald, John Ramey and Tyler Williams.

The family would like to express special appreciation to all the wonderful and dedicated caregivers who served her during her illness.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Jennings United Methodist Church, Post Office Box 712, Jennings, LA 70546.
