Wanda Pearl (Drake) Davidson passed away February 14, 2018 in Jackson, Wyoming. She was born June 28, 1942 and was raised on the family farm near Arapahoe outside of Riverton, Wyoming. She attended primary school at Arapahoe and went to high school in Riverton, graduating in 1960. Wanda then attended the University of Wyoming receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education in 1964. She spent her entire teaching career in Shoshoni, Wyoming where she taught second, third and fourth grades for 24 years. Known by her students as “Ms. Drake”, Wanda loved being around children and visiting with them. After retirement, Wanda returned to Arapahoe where she stayed as a live-in caregiver for her parents. While there, Wanda enjoyed being outside, working in her mom’s flower beds, and helping her dad in their vast vegetable garden. She remained a caregiver after her father’s passing until her own declining health prevented her from looking after her mother’s needs. Wanda enjoyed crocheting, music, and reading. Her interest in literature led to a sizeable collection of books and bibles. She kept her wits very sharp with the challenges of word, jigsaw, and number puzzles. She also possessed a fondness for four-legged friends, particularly her dogs. Having been afflicted by polio at a very young age, Wanda developed a deep conviction in God and a strength of character which helped her to overcome many obstacles throughout her life. She also enjoyed visiting and helping others. Many people, caregivers and family members alike, have commented over the years, on how great a listener she was; always well-mannered and eager to lend an ear, or a hand, to those in need. She kept a lighthearted attitude and held a good sense of humor, often joking with those around her. She is preceded in death by her parents William F. “Joe” and Ethel Pearl Drake; sister-in-law Myra Lou Drake; niece Kristen Denise Woolwine; and grand-niece Abbie Mae Woolwine. She is survived by brothers Richard (Pat) Drake, Bill (Marsha) Drake, and sister Connie (Willard) Woolwine; seven nieces and nephews, twelve grand nieces and nephews, five great grand nieces and nephews; and by her beloved beagle, Sparky. Services will be held at Davis Funeral Home in Riverton, Wyoming on Friday, February 23 at 2:00pm.
