Riverside Cemetery in Waterbury, CT, was dedicated in 1853, with its first interment on July 14, 1853 (from a history of the cemetery at greaterwaterbury.com). The Hoadley monument includes, on three sides, the names of David Hoadley (d. 1839), his first wife Jane (d. 1799), and his second wife Rachel (d. 1857). It is thus likely that of those three, Rachel was the first interred there, with David and Jane either re-interred from elsewhere, or their names on the monument only to memorialize them (cenotaphs).

Rachel's name on the Palmer monument at Spring Grove Cemetery in Hartford is thus likely a cenotaph to memorialize her on her daughter Mary Ann's marker.

Cenotaph here.
