Virginia M. (Sweeney) Hardy, 95, of Rowley, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018, in the Seaview Retreat surrounded by her loving family.

She was the wife of the late Elwood C. Hardy, with whom she shared 63 years of marriage.

She was born on June 22, 1923, in Salem and was the daughter of the late Charles and Rhoda (McDonald) Sweeney. Ginny was a graduate of Topsfield High School. She was employed as a tester for several years at CBS Hytron in Newburyport.

Ginny enjoyed crafts, quilting, dancing, and teaching ceramics. She was a fine artist and especially liked Bunka, a Japanese form of needlepoint. Ginny received a first-place ribbon at the Topsfield Fair in 2007.

She is survived by her two sons, one daughter, 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren, and one daughter-in-law. Ginny was predeceased by son Charles E. Hardy.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 25, at the F.S. Roberts & Son Funeral Home, 14 Independent Street, Rowley, from 11 a.m. to noon. A funeral service will follow immediately at noon. Burial will be in Main Street Cemetery, Rowley.
