Ralph Doyle Lester, 93, passed away on September 22, 2013 at his Manzanola home. He was born on June 6, 1920 in Cheraw, Colorado.
He served with the U.S. Navy from 1938 to 1948 and eight of the years he served in submarines; the USS Sterlet, Dolphin, and Piranha submarines. He was an active volunteer at the Ft. Lyon, member of the Manzanola Lions Club and the American Legion. He also was a member of First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ of Manzanola.
He is survived by his wife, Sara Lester of the Manzanola home; son, David (Orietta) Lester of Italy; two step-children, Ron (Karen) Adams of Georgia, Wayne (Shirley) Adams of Manzanola; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; special nephew, Keith & Nancy Lance of Fowler, and numerous nieces & nephews and cousins also survive. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, infant son, one brother and two sisters.
