Susan “Sue” Lee Page Hester, age 57, passed away at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center on Thursday, August 16, 2018. She was born in Robbinsdale, Minnesota on June 27, 1961 to the late Leon Waters Page, Jr. and Betty Lou Freestone Page. She attended schools in Minnesota and Wisconsin where she graduated from Clear Lake High School. In 1984, she moved to the Lenoir area. Sue was a fun, feisty, strong woman who shared her love for plants and gardening with friends and family. It was not uncommon to find Sue searching for wildflowers and picking wild berries along the side of the road with her children. In her search for adventure, she developed her love for the beach. For many years, she enjoyed canning, crafting, sewing, and quilting.
Sue married Rick Hester in 1998. She enjoyed spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. Although she may be blunt, she was a kind hearted woman that would put the needs of others before herself. Her spunky spirit will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, William Lee Page and grandson, Tyler James Greeley.
Other than her husband, she is survived by her children, Rebecca Juleff of Star Prairie, WI; Melanie Hightower and husband, Travis of Greensboro, NC; Thomas Humpal of Lenoir, NC; stepchildren, Crystal Bumgarner and husband, Brian of Lenoir, NC; Adam Hester and wife, Jennifer of Lenoir, NC; Megan West and husband, Newland of Lenoir, NC; grandchildren, Samantha Greeley; Jalynn Hightower; Zack Bumgarner; Marissa Bumgarner; Kyleigh Hester; Emma Hester; Levi Hester; Maverick Lipford; and Alley West; great-granddaughter, Evelyn Denver; brothers, Steven Page of Oregon City, OR, Duane Page and wife, Lori of Charlotte, NC; sister, Diane Boes and husband Jeffrey of Memphis, TN; sister-in-law, Annette Erickson of New Richmond, WI; numerous nieces and nephews; and her dogs, Daisy and Katie.
