James Bowens, November 17, 2015
James Baylor Bowens, son of the late Edward and Esther (Bundy) Bowens, was born on May 25, 1945 in Aura, NJ . He was raised in Mullica Hill, NJ and attended the Harrison Township Public Schools.
James was a former truck driver for various companies around South Jersey. He also worked for various moving companies and organized various house hold auctions around South Jersey.
He had an extensive toy truck collection. He loved to travel with family to various states and as he would often say, "jack of all trades, master of none".
He was a former member of the Mt Nebo Lodge #41. He was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church where he was a dedicated member of the Sr. Usher Board.
His brothers Edward Thomas Bowens, Matthew Thomas Bowens and sisters Willa Mae Walker and Jean Ellen Gatewood and brother-in-law Edward Young preceded James in death.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife Vester L. Pope-Bowens; a son Sean Redman (Kelly); two daughters, Marla and Semaj Bowens; a brother, Willard Oliver Gatewood; a sister, Lorraine Laura Young; five grandchildren, Courtney, Kayla, Sheldon and Hannah Redman and Shanya Bowens and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be held 11am Saturday, November 21st at Morning Star Baptist Church, Woodstown where family and friends may attend a viewing 9-11AM. Interment will be at the church cemetery.
