Aaron James Bannister was called home to our Heavenly Father on Saturday May 23, 2015 at approximately 3:10 pm, at LSU Medical Center.

On May 23, 2015 police responded to a call of a male shot who was on the second floor walking area of the Garden Oaks Apartments located at 3300 Garden Oaks Drive. Aaron had sustained multiple gun shots and was transported to the hospital where he later died.

He is preceded in death by his father Aaron James Monroe, 2 uncles Dwayne Bannister and Roland Robinson and 1 aunt Christine Bannister.

Aaron leaves to cherish his memories: his mother, Nicole Bannister; sister, Ariel Bannister, brother, Aaron Harris; 2 precious daughters, Destiny Aaliyah Bannister and Akeelah Ronesha Robertson; grandparents, Melvina and Louis Bannister. Also survived by numerous Aunts, uncles, 1 nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend his celebration of Life service on Saturday June 6th 2015 at Charbonnet-Labat-Glapion Funeral Home, 1615 St. Philip St., NOLA for 10:00 am, Pastor Ronnie London, officiating. Visitation is from 9:00 am until the hour of service.

A 24-year-old man is wanted in connection with the murder of a man shot and killed in May at an apartment complex in Algiers.

Wellington Cornin was identified as the suspect in the murder. He is being sought for second-degree murder, the New Orleans Police Department said.

New Orleans police said Cornin shot and killed Aaron Bannister, 26, at an apartment complex in the 3300 block of Garden Oaks Drive. The shooting happened May 23.

According to the NOPD, Bannister was found on the second floor walking area of the apartment complex. He had been shot multiple times and died at a hospital.

Detectives were able to identify Cornin as a suspect after further investigation. A photograph of Cornin was provided by the NOPD.
