Howard Thomas Walker Junior passed away peacefully Saturday morning blanketed in the love of his family. He spent 92 years on this earth having lived life by his own rules. He was known for his love of black coffee and taking long drives down the back roads of Texas. When spending time with his family, Howard was greatly remembered for his driving lessons, playing dominos, fishing, porch sitting and watching westerns.
As a World War II veteran, Howard served as an Infantry man. Eventually serving as a Clerk in the Secret Mail Section of U. S. Army Headquarters in the Philippines during the confrontation with Japan. Howard had the honor of transporting General Douglas MacArthur and his family while stationed overseas.
After the war, Howard returned to his hometown where he met the very young and beautiful bank teller, Ruby Pauline Renfro. Just three short weeks of courtship, they married in Coleman, Texas and remained married for 68 years until his death. Together raising five children.
Howard, having worked in the trucking industry for many decades, moved around Texas but spent most of his life in Midlothian, Texas. Besides his children, Howard leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Life without him will not be the same.
"Age wrinkles the body. Quitting wrinkles the soul." General Douglas MacArthur
