MARCH 4, 1934 ~ NOVEMBER 2, 2019 (AGE 85)
David Harold Roper, Sr., 85, husband of Joan Kelley Roper, of Greenville, died Saturday, November 2, 2019.
Born in Spartanburg, he was a son of the late Timothy Aaron Roper and Ainslie Felder Roper.
David graduated from Greenville High School in 1952. He was a retired Capital Equipment Manager for the Greenville Hospital System. He was a member of Recovery Masonic Lodge, the Hejaz Shrine, and Greenville Elk’s Club #858.
In addition to his loving wife of 61 years, David is survived by two sons; Hal and his wife Donna Roper, a granddaughter, Evin Roper Symmes and her husband Andrew; and Tim “Fish” Roper; a sister, Mary Florence and her husband Joe Harvey; a brother, Willian Riddle Roper; and his special canine companion, Missy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Timothy Roper.
A visitation will be held Sunday, November 3, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown Chapel. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. in the Downtown Chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dunean Baptist Church, Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, 21 Allen St., Greenville, SC 29605
