Mr. Ralph “Rooster” Bruce Ward, age 61, of the Lynn Springs section of Swords Creek, Virginia, passed away Friday (November 1, 2019) at his home. Born March 18, 1958 in Russell County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Ray Estil and Audrey Brown Ward. A lifelong resident of the area, he had formerly been employed as a coal miner and truck driver. He was a fun-loving man, who enjoyed fast cars, motorcycles, and multiple birthdays.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Linda Ward and Shirley Tuggle, one infant brother, Ray Estil Ward, Jr., and one grandson, Isaac Ward.
Survivors include one son, Ryan Ward of Richlands; three grandchildren, Morgan Ward, Elyana Ward, and Isaiah Ward; five sisters, Janie Shelton, Darlene Whited, Mary Thomas, Kathy Casey, and Patty Dye; one brother, Jack Ward; aunt, Sally Breedlove; several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 PM Monday, November 4, 2019, in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Doug Allen officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday at the Ward Cemetery in Swords Creek, Virginia. Those wishing to attend are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 10:30 AM to go in procession.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be his motorcycle friends.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home from 5 – 7 PM Monday.
