Kathleen is pre-deceased by her husband William, younger siblings Henry (Sigrid), Edmund (Peggy) and Helena (Vito) Morgese. She is survived by her daughter Maureen (Emil) Nichols-Dieguez and granddaughters Heather Dieguez and Alison Dieguez (Scott Emmer).
Bill met his 'Million Dollar Baby' when they both worked at Woolworth's in NYC, he in the stockroom and she as a window dresser. Married in 1943, Kathleen helped in the war effort as a welder in the navy yard while Bill served in the US Army Air Corp. Always hard working, Kathleen, a telephone operator and Bill, an IRT motorman, they moved to Copiague, LI, in 1950.
Kathleen and Bill continued to serve their community as Eucharistic Ministers at Our Lady of the Assumption. Her outgoing nature and loving personality came through as she volunteered to teach CCD for 'special needs' children. She would also teach adult extension classes in knitting and crocheting.
After Bill's death, Kathleen moved to Queens where she became active in Holy Family, Flushing, as a Eucharistic Minister and as a substitute cook in the rectory. In 2006 Kathleen moved to Woodlawn and fell in love with the people in the neighborhood. She always had a smile, a quip and a wink, and a kiss for those she met. Thank you to our Woodlawn neighbors for your welcoming kindness and for keeping her spirits high as she took her daily walk.
Thank you to our family for keeping her in your hearts. She cherished your cards, photos and calls (especially the calls. She did love to talk). God bless you.
