Diana R. Thomas, 73, of Greencastle, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2019, surrounded by her family.

She was born Aug. 6, 1946 in Terre Haute, the daughter of Walter and Ernestine (Cornett) Ross.

Diana was a 1964 graduate of Gerstmeyer High School and received her bachelor’s degree in business education from Indiana State University in 1968.

Diana was the victims assistance director at the Putnam County Prosecutor’s Office for several years. She had also served as a substitute teacher and classroom aide.

She is survived by her husband, Darrel Thomas; daughters Lisa (Mike) Chadd and Kara (Matt) Hazlett; a sister, Sue (Jack) Boehmer; three grandchildren, Kayla and Rachel Chadd and Josie Hazlett; a sister-in-law, Mary Whallon; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ronald Whallon.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at the First Baptist Church, 404 Judson Dr., Greencastle. Interment will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Memorial contributions may be made in Diana’s memory to the Darrel Thomas Scholarship Fund, c/o the Putnam County Foundation, 2 N. Jackson St. Greencastle, IN 46135.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home.
