Oscar Barron, aged 56 years, died at his home in Benton last Saturday. He was a son of the late J. T. Barron, one of the pioneers of Bland community. He was well known in the West End, Benton and Bauxite and his passing is mourned by relatives and a large circle of friends. He is survived by his wife; one son, Jewell Barron of Benton; two brothers, Horace of Little Rock and Walter of Searcy. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoonat the Ashby Funeral Home, conducted by Rev Joe Sullivan of Rison. Burial was at Pinecrest Memorial Park. (from the Benton Courier, November 28, 1940, page 8)

Barron Family
Once again God has come into our midst. This time the death angel came into the home of Mrs. Launa Barron and took her devoted husband, Oscar. He had been in ill health for several years.
He was born in Saline County October 17, 1884, and departed this life November 23, 1940. He spent the most of his life in Saline County. He was the youngest son of J. T. and Agnes Barron.
Grandmother Barron was born September 26, 1851, and died June 10, 1904.
Grandfather was born May 22, 1848, and died March 30, 1928. Aunt Sallie was born November 5, 1870, and died in January 1915. There were two boys who died in infancy. Daddy was born June 16, 1873, and was taken from us January 4, 1940. There are only two of us left now: Uncle Walter of Searcy and Uncle Horace of Little Rock.
Uncle Oscar was married to Miss Launa Hensley October 27, 1901. They only had one son, Jewel, who lives in Benton.
Uncle Oscar was a member of Oak Hill Methodist Church. He was a useful citizen, always ready and willing to help those in need. The home and community will never be the same. He was a good husband and father.
Funeral services were held Sunday, November 24, at the Ashby Funeral Home at 2:30, conducted by Rev Joe Sullivan of Rison. Burial was at Pinecrest Memorial Park. [poem]
