Michael "Mike" Dale Scarbrough, 63, passed away peacefully at home on October 30, 2019 after a brave battle with cancer surrounded by family. Born and raised in Fayetteville WV, Mike was a carpenter throughout his life, he was also an avid hunter and had a passion for fishing. Mike never met a stranger. He enjoyed life to the fullest telling stories of the “old days” with his time spent fishing and hunting with his brothers, all of whom were his best friends. He was always there to brighten the lives of his family members with his kind eyes and soft smile. He thrived on the exchange of conversation and was committed to his family making sure they knew he had their support. Mike was considered like a second father to his nieces and nephews alongside his brothers and sisters as they taught them necessary life skills such as how to swim and live off the land “hunt and fish”, and instilled family values upon his loved ones. He will truly be missed by his loved ones, but his memory will never be forgotten.

Mike was born on May 11, 1956 to the late Wesley Edmond Scarbrough (1903-Deceased) and Margaret Frances Simms-Scarbrough (1913-Deceased). In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his brothers, CPL Darrell Wesley Scarbrough (1930-1950), Charles Lester Scarbrough (1933-1987), Sherman "Max" Scarbrough (1939-2012) & wife Carol "Sue" Scarbro-Scarbrough (1942-Deceased), Larry Scarbrough (Deceased), John "Johnny" Melvin Scarbrough Sr. (1946-2010) & wife Elizabeth "Liz" May Walton-Scarbrough (1947-Deceased), Gary Wayne Scarbrough (1950-2006), and Ernest Richard "Ricky" Scarbrough (1948-2017); sisters, June Scarbrough-Sutton (Deceased) & husband Norman Sutton (Deceased); sister in-law, Jo Ann Scarbrough (Deceased); and nephew, John Melvin Scarbrough Jr. (Deceased).

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Tiffany Scarbrough, and Michelle Scarbrough of FL; brother, Kenneth Scarbrough of SC; sisters, Karen Sue Scarbrough-Price-Slaughter (B. 1944) & husband Tillman Slaughter of Lookout WV, and Marilyn Scarbrough-Richards & husband Jesse Richards of Fayetteville WV; sisters-in-law, Linda Scarbrough & husband Ricky of Fayetteville WV, and Debbie Scarbrough of FL; special nieces & nephews, Connie Everett Oak Hill, Leslie Tweedie & Robert Jeffries of Fayetteville and Richard Scarbrough of Fayetteville; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends all of whom he loved and cherished.

As per Mike’s wish’s he will be cremated and remains buried at the Scarbrough family cemetery along side his parents, brothers, and sisters. There will be a graveside service at a “later date”.
