Mr. George W. McBride, 61, died at his residence, 1127 Young Place, Frederick, on Sunday, Oct. 2. He was the husband of Mrs. Mary Louise Zimmerman McBride.
Born at Buckeystown, April 15, 1927, Mr. McBride was a son of Wilbur F. McBride Sr., of Frederick, and the late Millicent Jones McBride.
Mr. McBride was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. He had been employed at Fort Detrick for 21 years and retired in 1979 from the U.S. Naval Hospital in Bethesda.
He was a member Of Calvary United Methodist Church, the American Legion Post No. 11, Francis Scott Key, AMVETS Post No. 2, and the F.O.E. No. 1067, Frederick.
Surviving in addition to his wife and father are one sister, Mrs. Arlene J. Fox, Lewistown; one brother, Wilbur F. McBride Jr., Lewistown; one aunt, Mrs. Ruth Zimmerman, Shookstown; three uncles, Simon McBride, Rockville, Robert Jones, Comus, Ohio, and Edward B. Jones Jr., Frederick; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., on Tuesday. Oct. 4, from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 5, at 2 p.m. from Calvary United Methodist Church. The Rev. Robert E. Manthey, pastor of the church, will officiate. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Hospice of Frederick County, Inc., P.O. Box 1604, Frederick, Md. 21701, or to the Cancer Society of Frederick County, 11 W. South St., Frederick, Md. 21701.
