Mr. DeHaan, son of Margaret (Van Arkel) and Harry DeHaan, was born Dec. 23, 1915, in Pella.
On May 17, 1941, he married Dorothy Elizabeth Gipple at Mount Pleasant. He was a dentist, retiring in 1979. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and lived in Osceola since 1957.
He served on the Osceola Library and Southwestern Community College boards. He was a member of the Osceola Rotary Club, American Dental Association, American Legion Post No. 69 and Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy DeHaan of Osceola; two sons, Mike (wife Mary) DeHaan of Harlan and Dr. Fred (wife Deb) DeHaan of Storm Lake; daughter Jolene (husband Mel) Raid of Granbury, Texas; American Field Service daughter, Cheri (husband Vahe) Apelian of Andover, Mass; two sisters, Ruth Huisman of Westside and Lenore Keller of Dallas Center; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers-in-law Jake Keller and Ralph Huisman, and foster brother and sister-in-law Bob and Robinette Van Arkel.
