Son of Elijah Savage and Lenora Burel Savage and was the youngest of 12 children. He graduated from Decatur High School and retired in 1993 from Kraft Foods, after 35 years. Surviving are his wife, Susan Savage; three sons, Jim and Stacy Johnson, Scott and Kelly Johnson, and Stephen and Susan Johnson; twelve grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; sister, Marjorie Scoggins; and brother, Charlie and Dixie Savage.
