From her Obituary it appears that Sarah Orr was living in Georgia when she married James Montgomery on September 1, 1835 in Jackson Co., Georgia. The couple soon moved to Talledega County, Alabama, settling in the Eastaboga community near Maple Springs Church. Her Obituary mentions that she raised step children and her own children, which means she must have been the 2nd wife of James Montgomery. (Contrary to what is written on the Findagrave page for James Montgomery. Ancestry records show that James married 1st wife - Ann Cunningham on March 28, 1820 in Jackson Co., Georgia.)

Her husband, James Montgomery, died in 1878, and Sarah remained living on their property for many years after his death. She then lived in Talledega with her son, Thomas P. Montgomery, and then later with her daughter, Mrs. Judge Bishop.
