Brett Michael Lawson, 59, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on October 30, 2019 in Oklahoma City, OK after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Brett Lawson was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on November 8, 1959 to Thomas and Delores Lawson. He graduated from Franklin Central High School in Indianapolis on May 27, 1978, and enlisted four days later in the United States Navy. He was stationed on the USS Forrestal at Mayport, Florida, where he worked as a radar and sonar technician. He was honorably discharged on March 28, 1979.

Brett then attended Indiana-University-Purdue-University-Indiana (IUPUI) where he earned an Associate degree in phlebotomy. He worked at St. Joseph Hospital in Indianapolis for several years. Later, he moved to Arizona where he worked in sales. In the early 1990s while heading back to Indianapolis, he stopped in Tulsa, was offered a job and decided to stay. In April of 2003 he met his future wife, Joyce, while they were working a grocery store. Brett and Joyce Gayle Worley were married on August 9, 2003 in Owasso, Oklahoma. They enjoyed 16 years of marriage. In 2004, Brett began his 15 year career with AT&T until his death.

Brett was a friendly, cheerful, encouraging and fun-loving person. He always looked on the bright side of life with a smile on his face. He enjoyed visiting with anyone and everyone. He loved cats, working in the yard, and taking long walks at Oxley Nature Center near Tulsa. He and Joyce traveled on many occasions to Branson, and enjoyed a special vacation to Colorado in 2015. In April, 2018, Brett and Joyce moved from Tulsa to Oklahoma City and joined Southwest Baptist Church.

Brett was preceded in death by his father, Thomas, his mother, Delores, his brother, Greg, and his father-in-law, Gene Worley. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, his three sisters, Mary Lawson, Tammy Ford, Rita Crawford, and his mother-in-law, Rhonda Worley.

FUNERAL SERVICE at Southwest Baptist Church, 1300 SW 54th. St., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73119 on Tuesday, November 05, 2019 at 1:00 PM.
