Oma Grace "Corkey" Alberson, 84, of Las Cruces, N.M., passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2014, in Las Cruces. Corkey was born on Nov. 2, 1929, in Texon, Texas, to George and Gladys Hensley.

At a young age, she moved with her family to Las Cruces, where her father worked for the Stahmann family. Corkey attended school in Las Cruces and graduated from Las Cruces High School in 1947. Following graduation, she married Roy Alberson in June 1947, who preceded her in death in 2007. Corkey worked for several years at Pat Campbell Insurance agency and later as a bookkeeper for Burn Construction Co. She was an avid sports fan, and especially loved NMSU Aggie basketball and Dallas Cowboys football.

Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Nelda Russell. She is survived by a daughter, Kathy and Fred Wingfield of Hot Springs, Ark., two sons, Allen Alberson and his wife, Karen, of Yorba Linda, Calif., and Charles (Chuck) Alberson and his wife, Janna, of Stephenville, Texas, as well as six grandchildren, Mike Wingfield, George, Samantha and Patrick Alberson, and Chad and Alyssa Alberson. Additionally, she is survived by two sisters, Barbara Morrison of Las Cruces, Patsy Lee of Las Cruces and a brother, Beau Hensley of Colorado Springs, Colo., many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Las Cruces, with Richard King officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the donor's favorite charity.
