Our loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, quietly passed from his earth life on July 9, 2007.
He was born on March 3, 1921 in West Jordan, the fifth child of William Ellis Bennion and Phebe Effie Palmer. He in now reunited with his eternal companion Faye and their son Lynn. He had eight brothers, William Ellis Jr., Vernon Palmer, Stanley Palmer, Wayne Harvey, Paul Palmer, Kenneth Palmer, Rex Palmer, and Don Palmer. He was married to Ethel Faye Henderson on October 9, 1939 in Randolph, Utah. Beginning their loving, inspiring and fulfilling 67 year marriage which was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were blessed with five children: M. Lynn Bennion - deceased, and wife (JoAnn) of Highland; Colleen (Danny) Montoya, West Jordan; Patricia (M. Kay) Brown, South Jordan; Randall (Sheila), Sandy; and Gerald (Patty), West Valley. His life was dedicated to serving those around him. As a young husband and father, Morris was called to duty in the US Army during World War II. He spent most of his time in the Philippines. Together with his eternal companion he served in the Philippine Baguio Mission from 1983-1985. Through the years, Morris served in many different capacities within the LDS Church and the community including, the Young Mens organization, counselor in the Bishopric and Bishop of the Bennion Ward. "I believe the greatest highlight of my church life was serving as bishop. I am happy to have had the opportunity of knowing personally every bishop who served in the Bennion Ward while I've lived here." (Quoted from his personal history) For the past 13 years he served as Patriarch in the Bennion East Stake. He also lovingly cared for his sweet wife during her illness, until the time of her passing. Morris and Faye had many wonderful opportunities for travel, and especially enjoyed their trip to the Holy Lands. Together, until recently, they served as temple ordinance workers in the Jordan River Temple. He worked diligently in the Sons of the Utah Pioneers organization and served as President of the Jordan River Temple Chapter, and two terms as National President. Morris always had time for anyone and everyone. He was always quick to smile, to tease and to share a laugh. During his 35 year career with Utah Power & Light, he had many opportunities to get to know people. All his friends blessed his life. He was always ready and willing to help anyone who might be in need. He has set a wonderful example for his 20 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.
