After school, Lloyd worked for area farmers in Des Lacs. Following his time as a farm hand, he worked for John Braten Lumber Company. During that time he was united in marriage to Joyce Ahern, this union blessed his life with a daughter and a son. Later he moved to Ray, ND, where he co-owned Westland Oil. He later worked for Williams County Telephone Company which was sold to Northwest Community Cooperative, as a technician. After 35 years of employment, he retired in 1988.
Lloyd was united in marriage to Janice Thom on November 23, 1990. They made their home in Minot.
He was a member of the Ray Rifle and Pistol Club, the Bethany Lutheran Church of Minot, the Magic City Squares Dance Club.
Lloyd loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He took pride in being listed in the National Rifle Association as an expert marksman. He also liked riding horseback, motorcycle & snowmobile. Many afternoons were spent playing cards. Golfing and dancing were also passions of his.
