Milan L. Hanscom, 68, of Guinea Road died Tuesday, February 20, 1996, at Southern Maine Medical Center after a long illness. He was born in Kennebunk, a son of Earl Frederick and Flora Vivian Littlefield Hanscom, and attended Kennebunk schools.
He served in the Navy on several destroyers during World War II and during the Korean War. Mr. Hanscom was a 50-year member of Arundel Lodge in Kennebunkport and Past Commander of Kennebunkport Memorial Post, American Legion. A member of the Biddeford Pool Fire Department, he helped build one of the fire stations there.
Mr. Hanscom was a gardener, growing flowers and vegetables. At the time of his death he was planning his garden for spring.
He leaves his son Vincent Hanscom of Winchester NH; daughter Rebecca Gagnon of Biddeford; brother Vernon E. Hanscom of Arundel; sisters Nellie Caron of Derry NH, and Marjorie Gould, Kathleen Stevens, Genevieve Nadeau, and Janet Roy, all of Kennebunk; and three granddaughters.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday at the Bibber Memorial Chapel, Summer St., Kennebunk, with Rev. Robert Hewitt officiating. Spring burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Kennebunk.
