Elizabeth "Libby" Jane Freeman, 50, of Athens, passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2018, in Athens.
She was a native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, and was a daughter of the late R.B. and Cecil Odella Hicks Rogers. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Lee Freeman, on Jan. 1, 2018; two sisters, Jena Shell and Brenda Ann Lawson; and three brothers, Jim Rogers, Jerry Rogers, and Randy Rogers. She was a member of East Niota Baptist Church.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Tamara Messer of Athens; two daughters and son-in-law, Brandy and Buddy Davis of Sweetwater, and Kascey Lee Freeman of Athens; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Mark and Tessie Rogers of Athens, and Jack and Libby Rogers of Chattanooga; two sisters and brother-in-law, Judy Bryan of Athens, and Ginger and Todd Holt of Athens; six grandchildren, Ricky, William, Bradon, Kyia, Katelynn, and Jordyn; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 8, in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Earl Farris officiating. Interment will follow in Millers Chapel Cemetery, located at 619 Turkey Creek Road in Tellico Plains, at 4:30 p.m.
Active pallbearers will be Mark Rogers, Kenny Rogers, Ricky Davis, Jerry Denton, Todd Holt, Bruce Yarbrough, Terry Freeman, and Mike Dixon.
Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home of Athens is in charge of arrangements.
