The remains of a former Princeton man were found Sunday in a remote woodland area on the outskirts of Tallahassee, Fla., by a group of hunters. Tallahassee Sheriff’s Department officials said Wednesday.
The victim was identified as Ray Bailey, 72, a resident of Tallahassee since September of 1966. Officials said he had been missing since March of 1967 and had been dead since that time. Tallahassee authorities said no foul play was involved in the incident and death was attributed to natural causes. The victim was identified through a dental bridge made for him by the Veterans Administration. Police said the victim was found abo it 400 yards off a main highway near Tallahassee.
Born in Sandlick, he was a son of the late John W. and Florence Cook Bailey. He was a former Mercer County Highway Engineer and a former surveyor for the county. He also was a member of the American Legion. Bailey was the first man to leave for the U. S. Army in Mercer County during World War I.
Survivors include two brothers, Virgil A. Bailey of Princeton and Carl H. Bailey of Centerville, Md., and two sisters, Mrs. Grace West and Mrs. Inez Blanton of Princeton.
Graveside committal rites will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in the family plot in Oakwood Park Cemetery in Princeton with Rev. Randell Page officiating. George W. Seaver Mortuary in Princeton is to charge of arrangements.
