Betty Jean Pauley McGuire, age 84 of Tazewell, VA, formerly of the Tip Top Community of North Tazewell, VA, died Monday, October 28, 2019 at her home. She was born September 24, 1935 at Amonate, VA and was a daughter of the late William McKinley Pauley and Beulah Mae Johnson Pauley. Betty loved her family and enjoyed the pictures of her family throughout the years. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church at Tip Top, VA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Junior “Jiggs” McGuire; three sons, Larry, Michael and Johnny McGuire; eight brothers and sisters who died in infancy: twin brothers: Charlie Wilburn Pauley and Bruce Milburn Pauley, Cory Mae Pauley, Curtis Lloyd Pauley, Mary Elisabeth Pauley, Marvon Pauley, an infant twin of the late Tiny Ann Burton and Eugene Allen Pauley; ten brothers and sisters who survived past infancy: Harvey Jackson Pauley, Lorene Augusta Yates, Bertha Alice Scarberry, Nettie Evelyn Spangler, Sylvia Garnet Evans, William Donald Pauley, Joyce Love Wilkes (twin to Janice), Audrey Mae Spencer and James “Bud” Pauley.
Those who survive to cherish her memory include two sons, Patrick McGuire and wife, Sharon of Tazewell, VA and James McGuire and wife, Laura of Michigan; one daughter, Samantha McGuire Pruett and husband, Rick of Tazewell, VA; one sister, Janice Dove Pauley Wade of Roanoke, VA; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; other family members and many friends also survive.
Funeral Services for Mrs. McGuire will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 31, 2019 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA with Dr. Chuck Trent officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA. Members of the Barns-Beavers VFW Post #7136 of Tazewell, VA will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 – 9 p.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2019.
