United in marriage to Melba Bolin on September 18, 1960 in Walnut Ridge, AR. Charles and Melba came to Rockford in 1961 in search of employment. Charles was employed for several years at Rockford Clutch until his retirement where he was even the Union Steward for a period of time. In 2004 he followed the Lord and began Pastoral work at Lighthouse Temple Pentecostal Church in Rockford. Together with Melba they became members of Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ in Loves Park.
Charles found enjoyment in watching western movies, attending Gospel concerts, attending the car races at the Rockford Speedway, going out to eat and anytime spent with his family. Together with Melba they would just get in the car and drive to wherever they could. They enjoyed visiting the mountains, Wisconsin Dells, Florida, Lake of the Ozarks and of course visiting family in Arkansas.
Survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Melba; siblings, Everett Hart, Linda (James) Watson and Shirley (James) Brannon; sister-in-law, Glenda (Wesley) Poe; brother-in-laws, James Ed. (Diane), Jerry (Linda) Bolin; special niece, Vicki (Arnie) Walker; special nephew, Michael (Kristen) Tillman; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; siblings, Gilbert (Mary), Loretta, Edwina and Patsy; special dogs, Lucky, Cricket, Lisa and FeFe.
