Virginia Lee Nelson, 74, of Lima, passed away at 3:01 PM on Wednesday, January 12, 2022.

She was born on April 5, 1947, in Oakland, Nebraska, to Victor Emil and Mabel Clarine (Heese) Petersen, who both preceded her in death.

On September 12, 1965, she married Dwight Von Nelson, who preceded her in death on October 27, 2019.

Virginia had worked as a secretary for the State of Ohio and various attorneys in Columbus. She was a member of Grace Community Church, where she was very active. She enjoyed baking, but most of all loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, Tereasa L. (Jeff) Griffith of Lima, OH, Shelly D. (Troy) Burnside of Vallonia, IN; her grandchildren, Jamie (Dan) Frick, Jennifer Griffith, Cassidy Burnside, and Cody Burnside; her great-grandchildren, Grayson and Lincoln Frick; her brothers Charles, Lester, Merlin, and Mark Petersen; her sisters Nancy Knipp and Rose Snyder.

She was preceded in death by her sister Phyllis Miller.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL, where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Interment in Greenlawn Cemetery immediately following the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Community Church for mission work.
