SHERMAN, TX - Services for Tommy L. Allen, 79, of Sherman, TX, formerly of Whitesboro, TX will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2007 at the Sherman Church of the Nazarene. Rev. Mack Rogers will officiate.

Burial will follow at the Dixie Cemetery north of Whitesboro, TX.




Services are under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home.

He went to be with his Lord on July 9, 2007 after suffering with a lengthy illness.

Tommy was born on March 24, 1928, in Cooke County, TX the son of James Thomas Allen and Bessie Mae (Lillard) Allen. Tommy married Frances Gale (Caraway) on March 3, 1952 in Marietta, OK.

Tommy owned and operated Allen Construction that began in Indiana and later moved to Texas after many years. He loved to work even after he retired. He was always repairing things and was to be a jack of all trades.

Tommy was a member of the Sherman Church of the Nazarene.

He is survived by his wife of over 55 years, Frances G. (Caraway) Allen of Sherman, TX; son, James Allen (wife, Becky) of Muncie, IN; three daughters, Kathy Lindsay (husband, Ed) of Whitesboro, TX, Jamie Pruett (husband, Maverick) of Whitesboro, TX, Teresa Allen of Sherman, TX; daughter-in-law, Susan Allen of Pottsboro, TX; 15 grandchildren, Jessica Pruett, Daniel Pruett, Anthony Pruett, Jennifer Allen, Brian Allen, Misty Hall, Sunshine Maffi, James Robert Allen, Michael Allen, Christy Shields, Angie Taylor, Desiree Schnider, Dennis Allen, Roberta Brown and Gina Campbell. He is also survived by numerous great grandchildren and a host of friends and other family.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents; three sons, Eddie L. Allen, Tommy G. Allen, Herman R. "A.L." Allen; three sisters, Pauline Rhonemus, Betty Spangler and Billie Karres.

Family night will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2007 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Waldo Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be James Robert Allen, Anthony Pruett, Daniel Pruett, Dennis Allen, Joe Hall and James Gwartney. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ed Lindsay, Maverick Pruett and James Allen.
