Bret Croat Golightly, 6 of Booneville, Iowa, died September 6th, 2003, at Blank Children's Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. Bret died after a courageous 13-month fight against leukemia, which included a bone marrow transplant. Bret was born in Des Moines, Iowa on May 26th, 1997, the son of Daniel and Michelle (Croat) Golightly. He loved trains, fishing , mushroom hunting, walking in the woods and the garden. He was strong willed and never knew a stranger. He loved to bake and made Christmas cutout cookies during and even before the Christmas season.
He is survived by his parents, Dan & Michelle Golightly of Booneville, Iowa; a sister, Karlee, at home; paternal grandparents, Dale and Vera Golightly of Booneville, Iowa; maternal grandparents, Ken and Linda Croat of St. Marys, Iowa; aunts and uncles include: Brad and wife Shelly Golightly of Perry, Iowa; Randy Golightly of Booneville, Iowa; Jean Golightly of DeSoto, Iowa; Karyn Mallia of E. Stroudsburg, PA; Becki and husband Bob Williams of Lonetree, CO; Randall and wife Janice Croat of Ankeny, Iowa; and Jacqueline Croat of Taos, NM.
