George was born March 1, 1928, in Marlow, OK, to George William Carroll and Mamie (Laughlin) Brokaw. He spent his childhood in both Marlow and Guthrie, Oklahoma.

He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp at just 16 years of age and served in WWII. He met his wife Lovetta after returning from duty and they were happily married for 70 years.

George was an avid hunter and he and Lovetta enjoyed hunting together.

George was employed by Halliburton as an oil field consultant and upon his retirement, he worked for 2 other companies. While working, he shared his talents, gifts, and knowledge with other men.

He showed his tender heartedness with women and children and would help them whenever he could.

George was an active member of the St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Shawnee where he enjoyed making visits to ill or shut in members and enlightened many hearts with his humor and caring nature. He was a member of the church softball team and played well into his 80's.

George had a group of friends who he would drink coffee with and he always kept their attention by telling tales of his experiences in life, work, and marriage. George's family and friends will remember him for his great sense of humor.

George is survived by his family, Ranay and Gene Thompson; Ryan and Melissa Thompson, Somer Thompson, Morris Bullard, George Wooten, Gary and Micki Rogers, Pete and Macy Windiate, and Kyle and Morgan Rogers.

George was preceded in death by his wife, Lovetta Carroll; mother, Mamie Brokaw; father, Bill Carroll; sisters, Alma Wooten; Eula Risner; and Onda Crabs.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday October 22, 2019 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church 301 N. Beard Ave. Shawnee, OK 74801.
