The following newspaper clipping was of poor quality to read:
Joel L. Foote, Sr., 85, believed to have been the oldest resident of Brooklyn Heights and a former mayor of that village, died yesterday at Deaconess Hospital.
Mr. Foote was one of the first ... farmers in that section. He was born Feb. 22, 1856, less than a mile from the site of his farm, which is on Schaaf Road, Brooklyn Heights.
He retired from active farm work 15 years ago, and the farm has been run since by two sons, A. ... and Joel L. Foote, jr.
He served as mayor of the village for two terms and was a member of the village council four terms.
Mr. Foote was the father of the late Mabel Foote, a teacher at Parma High School. Miss Fotte and another teacher, Louise Wolf, were slain Feb. 16, 1921, as they were walking home from school on ... Rd., Parma. The murder was never solved and became one of the metropolitan area's most baffling mysteries.
Mr. Foote was a member of the Brooklyn Heights, Cuyahoga County and Ohio State Granges.
Besides the two sons, he is survived by his wife, Ella; another son Kenneth J. Foote, an employee of The Aluminum Co. of America; a daughter, Mrs. Millie O. Martin; a sister, Mrs. Helen E. Chester, and two brothers, Charles H. and Lloyd Foote.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at the George H. Busch & Son Funeral home, 4334 Pearl Road S.W.
