Mr. Wilkes was born in Montgomery County on November 28, 1942, to Marvin Thomas and Margaret Odesa Sanders Wilkes.
He was a self-employed diesel mechanic.
His parents preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Ratliff Wilkes of the home; daughters, Margaret Allison Wilkes of Carthage and Cathy Frye and husband, Jonathan, of Carthage; son, Tommy Wilkes and wife, Melissa, of Carthage; and eight grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at 366 Coles Mill Road, Carthage.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
