It is with great sadness that we must share Bobby’s courageous battle with cancer ended, on October 25, 2019, at 11:00 p.m., in the caring arms of his wife, Rachel, surrounded closely by his loving family. Bobby was born to Lynda Gayle (Chorley) and Robert Lee Cobb Jr. on November 9, 1965, in Grand Rapids, MI.

Bobby and Rachel Smelker were introduced in 1995, by Miss Betty Ann Sedore and it was love at first sight. They were married on March 30, 1996, in Lake Odessa, MI. They soon welcomed Bo, Blake, and Elly into the world. Bobby loved spending time cooking, while hosting friends and family. He enjoyed playing the drums, hunting, and snowmobiling. Bobby loved serving the community and wished for no one to be burdened by his struggles. He was a firm believer that God never gives us more than we can handle. Bobby was admired for being strong, wise and caring. He helped shape all individuals who surrounded him, whether it was across the counter at Cobb’s Corner, in their vehicle at Cobb’s Quick Lube & Wash or at a game in the community. Always offering a listening ear and appropriate response, you could always go to Bobby.

He is survived by his loving wife Rachel and their three children, whom he considered his greatest accomplishment and was so very proud of Robert Lee Cobb IV (Sara Holland), Kenneth Blake Cobb and Elizabeth Kaye-Ann Cobb; his siblings Brynda (Kevin) Merryfield, William Cobb and Laura Cobb; his nieces Elaina (Nicholas) Ludema and Jessica (Jason) Mays; his nephews Chase Cobb and Seth Cobb and his mother Lynda Cobb. Preceding him in death was his father Robert Lee Cobb Jr. Bobby was a man who worked as hard as he played. He was an amazing husband, father, brother, son, and best friend. We are all so thankful that the good Lord gave him to us, even if it was for such a short time.

As everyone who knew Bobby can imagine he wanted his friends, family and community members to gather to celebrate his life and not to be sad. Please join his family on Saturday, November 2, 2019, at Cobb’s Quick Lube & Wash, in Lake Odessa, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Per Bobby’s request, in lieu of flowers please donate to his memorial fund, please address the checks to Rachel A. Cobb F.B.O the Lake Odessa Little League. Donations can be sent to Union Bank, 1150 Jordan Lake St, Lake Odessa, MI 48849. A private family burial will take place later with the Pastor John Waite officiating.
