Barbara Ann Gentry, 69, of Springfield, died at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2019, at Memorial Medical Center.
Barbara was born on January 7, 1950, in Springfield, the daughter of Leonard and Wilma DeGroot Boone. She married Richard Gentry in 1977 in Springfield.
Barbara graduated from Lanphier High School in 1969 and earned her associate degree from Lincoln Land Community College. She was employed as a tax specialist with the Illinois Department of Revenue until her retirement after 37 years of service. Barbara enjoyed being with her family, crocheting, cross-stitching, and loved Christmas.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Michael Boone.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Gentry of Springfield; son, Jason (Casey) Gentry of Springfield; daughter, Meghan (Dereald) Gentry of Springfield; grandchildren, Dominic, Chloe, Krystian, Bailey, and Junior; sisters, Cindy (husband, Steve) Williams of AR and Mary (husband, Charles) Lauterbach of Rochester; one niece; and several nephews.
Cremation was provided by Lincoln Land Cremation Society.
The family will host a Celebration of Life at a later date.
