Michael Lynn Burrell, 51, died on October 19, 2019 at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis, New Mexico. He was born July 1, 1968 in Oakridge, TN to Roy Lupton Burrell and Olene Ellavie Choate.

Michael grew up in Metter, Georgia and graduated from Metter High School in 1986. After graduation, Michael started his career in the United States Air Force and worked his way up to the rank of Crew Chief. During his military career, Michael was awarded several medals including the Air Force Achievement Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Air Force Longevity Service Award, and Southwest Asia Service Medal. He was a veteran of the Gulf War and travelled with the Air Force to several countries including Turkey and Korea. Michael continued to serve in the United States Air Force after his retirement as a detective at Cannon Air Force Base.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Burrell and his uncle, Virgil Choate.

Survivors include: his wife; Asalyn Burrell of the home; five children, Lauren Burrell, Joshua Burrell, Elizabeth Riggins (Robert), Zachary Burrell, and Addison Hughes; his aunt, Betty Knight Choate; four siblings; Blaine Burrell (Pam), Pat Burrell-NeeSmith, Carla Burrell (Billy), and six grandchildren; Carson Burrell, Paisley Burrell, Easton Riggins, Noah Andrews, Anthony Sanchez, and Avery Sanchez; several nieces and nephews; and a good friend, Josh Tucker.

Kennedy Funeral Homes had charge of arrangements.
