Lee Ella Ovell Ware was born to the union of Milton and Helen Ware on March 19, 1923 in Riverside, California. She was an only child, but was blessed to be reared alongside her first cousins, Evelyn, Angie, Dolores and Patsy, all of whom preceded her in death. As a young girl Lee Ella attended Park Avenue Baptist Church in Riverside under the tutelage of Reverend I. B. Moss. Her grandparents, Wesley and Melissia Decatur. A;pmg wotj ptjer African-American families in the vicinity, were instrumental in opening Park Avenue Baptist Church after separating from Second Baptist. Lee Ella Accepted Christ at an early age and throughout her life she maintained a close relationship with God.

In 1936, the Ware family moved to Corcoran, California, where her father worked as a laborer and her mother as a housekeeper and childcare provider. Lee Ella attended the local schools and graduated from Corcoran Union High School in 1916.

She married William Stanley Harris in 1917. To this union three children were born: Philip, Dolores and Jeffery. With marriage she gained a daughter, Linda R. Harris Davis. In 1952 the family moved to Los Angeles, California and then to San Bernardino in 1954.

She loved her children whom she deemed "life's greatest gifts." Nevertheless, she was a strict, old-school mother. Even though she was small in stature, she would not hesitate to administer discipline by any means necessary – belt, shoe or anything that was handy. When she felt it necessary, she would send her children to the nearby olive tree to fetch a sturdy switch.

Her church, Temple Missionary Baptist in San Bernardino, and her church – family were precious to her. She worked tirelessly as a Sunday School teacher and Church Mother for which she received many accolades and awards. She remained dedicated and active in service to her church until her health began to fail. Her favorite pastime of late, was sitting on the patio enjoying the sunshine. She could do that for hours.

Throughout her life, Lee Ella worked at various jobs, but her primary job was as a clerk at F. W. Woolworth where she worked for twenty nine and a half years. She retired on March 31, 1992.

Lee Ella was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Milton Ware, and her husband William {Bill} Harris.

She leaves to celebrate her life and her memory her children: Linda Davis, Philip Harris {JoAnn}, Dolores Moore {James}, Jeffery Harris {Yvonne}; her grandchildren: Lester Gotee, De Valrie Harris, Steven Harris, Kelley Moore {Linda}, Lenora Lofton {David}, Jordyn Harris, Jarell Harris and a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
