Phyllis Dianne Jackelen, 68, beloved mother of Bridgette and Tammy, died unexpectedly on March 10, 2017 at her home that she loved in New Richmond, Wisconsin.
Phyllis was born May 9, 1948 in Alexandria, MN to LeRoy and Norma (Jensen) Weiland. Her stepfather was Richard Weiland. Phyllis lived on Grandma Anna Mary’s farm for years of early childhood. Those were some of the best years of her life. At age 9, the family moved to Semi Valley California. She graduated from Semi Valley High School in 1966.
After graduating high school, she completed Cosmetology School and later Barber School. She moved to Wisconsin and married Mark Jackelen in 1977. They went on to have two daughters, Bridgette in 1979 and Tammy in 1984. She worked for The Barbers of Hudson and then opened her own salon, Living Hair Styles, with her sister Paula in 1982. Because of her passion for people, beauty, style and fashion, her business was exceptionally successful and continued to be until her recent passing. Phyllis was very involved in the business community of New Richmond and proud to serve as a member of Rotary Club of New Richmond and The New Richmond Chamber of Commerce.
Phyllis was a beautiful spirit who shined a bright light in the lives of her close circle of friends and clientele. She was generous, empathic, selfless, and hilarious! Phyllis loved her daughters and was a champion for them throughout her life. She especially loved her granddaughter Frances and was so excited to meet her future grandson expected in April.
Phyllis was preceded in death by nephew, Trent; father, LeRoy; and stepfather, Richard.
She is survived by daughters, Bridgette (Rudy) of St. Paul, MN, and Tammy of West St. Paul, MN; granddaughter, Frances; mother, Norma of Kensington, MN; sisters, Pauline and Teresa of Alexandria, MN and Barbara of River Falls, WI; nephews, Anthony, Christopher and Troy; and many beloved extended family and friends.
Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 AM on Thursday, March 16th at the Cullen Crea Funeral Home. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family.
