He was born in Pickens, SC and was a member of Chevis Oaks Baptist Church, where he had served as Pianist.

He had formerly worked as a Hostess for McDonald’s for over 25 years.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Hadwin Porter, of Estill, SC, 3 sons, Larry David Porter, Lyn Drayton Porter, and Bruce Anthony Porter; 2 stepsons, Billy Grey and Ronnie Grey; 3 brothers, Marvin Porter, Garvin Porter, and Walker Porter; 2 sisters, Montez Meece, and Flora Mae Stone; 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park, Chapel Mausoleum.

Graveside Services: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery, Chapel Mausoleum, with Rev. Kyle Waddell, pastor of Chevis Oaks Baptist Church, officiating.
