Judy Rothwell Randolph Murphy of Weston, WV passed away on October 22, 2019 after a lengthy illness.
She is survived in death by Wilson McHugh Murphy, her devoted husband of 59 years.
She was born in 1938 in Kanawha County, WV and was the daughter of Clarence and Rosalie Rothwell Randolph. Both of who preceded her in death.
She was the treasured elder sister of William Harlan Randolph who preceded her in death and Thomas Lee and James Richard Randolph who survive her in death.
Judy was the loving and devoted mother of Mary Elizabeth Murphy Taylor (spouse of Marvin Lynn Taylor) and Jonathan David Murphy. She was the proud and doting grandmother of Brenna Cummings Murphy, Joshua Hugh Taylor (spouse of Sarah Taylor), Noah Lee Taylor (spouse of Kate Taylor) and Jacob Owen Murphy. She was the great-grandmother to Silas Hugh Taylor and Judah Aaron Taylor and the kind and caring aunt to many.
For the past 60 years, she was a faithful member of the Broad Street United Methodist Church where she served as choir director, youth leader, administrative board secretary and president of the United Methodist Women. She was employed in Lewis County as a bookkeeper for over 50 years. The final years of her career were spent at Development Drilling (Jane Lew, WV). She was also a volunteer bookkeeper for many years at the Stonewall Jackson Jubilee.
Judy enjoyed spending time at the family cottage in Barbour County, traveling, quilting, her exercise class at SJMH and attending church services.
In 1959, she was Lewis County’s princess entrant to the Strawberry Festival. She loved to reminisce about her childhood days in the Lewis County 4H organization.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, October 26 at 11:00 AM at the Broad Street United Methodist Church at 210 Broad Street in Weston.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donation be made to her beloved Broad Street United Methodist Church.
