Dorothy Jeanne Holt
NOVEMBER 7, 1926 – JULY 31, 2019
Dorothy J. Holt, 92, of Sun City, AZ, was greeted by Jesus on July 31, 2019. She was born and lived in Rockford, Illinois, until her parents moved to Minneapolis, MN.
It was here that Dorothy met her future husband, Navy Sailor, Lester Borner. She was married to Les in 1945 and they moved to Tracy, and later to Montevideo, MN, where they owned and operated Borner Ford Dealerships until Les passed away in 1974.
In 1975, Dorothy married Ralph Holt, another Ford Dealer in Cokato, MN. After Ralph’s death in 1998, she made Sun City, AZ, her permanent home.
Dorothy spent her days as a proud homemaker and mother, but also worked as a bank teller and was a Weight Watchers’ lecturer. Later, she volunteered as a greeter and patient support person at a local eye clinic.
Dorothy dedicated her entire life to serving Jesus, by singing and playing musical instruments. She served the Lord as a young child playing in a Swedish string band to more recently spending thirty years in a trio and church choir. Dorothy was a member of Grace Bible Church of Sun City.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Robert (Arlene) Borner of Chaska MN, William (Cindy) Borner of Sun City, AZ, Sherri (Dave) Johnson of Peoria, AZ, Stepchildren, Greg (Debbie) Holt of Cokato, MN, Julie (Tom) Gagnon of Fifty Lakes, MN, and one sister, Marie Webster, 97, of Golden Valley, MN. She also leaves behind many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ford and Mabel Bergstrom, and husbands Lester Borner and Ralph Holt.
Funeral Service: 10:00 am Thursday, August 29th 2019 at Grace Bible Church, 19280 N 99th Ave., Sun City, AZ
Following the service, a private family interment service will be held at Sunland Memorial Park and Mortuary, Sun City.
