Nellie "Helen" Cavallaro Lewis, 94, formerly of Syracuse passed away peacefully on November 9, 2017 surrounded by family in Maryland. Nellie was born April 6, 1923.

She is survived by her husband, Robert W. Lewis of Maryland; three children, Karlene A. (Tom) Lewis-Parker of Maryland, Carol J. Lewis-Hess of Syracuse and Robert J. Lewis of Maryland; Three grandchildren, Teri, Jeffery and Jarett Parker of Maryland; brothers, Nicholas and John Cavallaro of Syracuse; several nieces and nephews. Nellie was predeceased by her parents, Larry and Anna Cavallaro and siblings Dominic, Frank, Tony, and Louie Cavallaro.

Nellie had a love for the sweet and sparkle of life. Her sweet personality and perfection was exemplified in her zest in baking all kinds of pastries and decorating cakes for every occasions. There was sparkle in her style for fashion and jewelry. Her favorite store for many years was Hamilton Fashions, Eastwood. She involved herself in a lengthy retail career including positions with Switz's, K-Mart, Neisners, Denby and Walmart from Syracuse to Port Charlotte, FL. Nellie was fond of vacations in Canada, camping and traveling across the USA and Mexico with her husband. After retirement in Syracuse she lived in Port Charlotte, Florida for 24 years before moving to Maryland in 2004. We'll miss her!

Funeral services are Saturday at 10:30 AM in Sears Middleton Jones Funeral Home. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dewitt. Calling hours are Friday 4-7 PM at the funeral home, 209 N. Main St., North Syracuse, NY. Leave a condolence at searsmiddletonjones.com
