Henry Wayne Beck

January 18, 1942- October 22, 2019


Mr. Henry Wayne Beck, 77, of Spencer went to be with his lord on Tuesday, October 22, 2019, surrounded by family.


Wayne was born January 18, 1942 in Chattanooga to the late Henry Elmer and Eula Maude Smith Beck. He was an Army veteran, a retired Civil Servant with the Department of Defense Naval Weapons Station in Goose Creek, S.C., and worked at Walmart in McMinnville for over 16 years.


Wayne was a proud member of the Omar Shrine Temple in Charleston, S.C. for over 50 years. He was a Mason with Ezel Lodge 381 of Morrison, a member of Knoxville Scottish Rite and a member of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 6598 of Harriman.


Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Richard B. Beck and Billy "Dexter" Beck.


Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Nancy Beck, daughters, Kimberley (Tony Hunt) Beck of Ladson, S.C., and Kristen Beck of Charleston, S.C.; brother, Thomas W. (Betty) Beck of Tacoma, Wash., grandchildren, Krystle R. Hunt, Kelsey L. Hunt and Abbigaile M. Hunsucker; nephew, Larry Beck, niece, Dranda McCollough, and dear friends, Paul Ross and Christy Bouldin. He also leaves behind a large extended family, including nieces and nephews and sister-in-law, Donna Beck.


Funeral services will be Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the Layne Chapel with Bro. Bruce Corbin officiating. Burial will follow in Shockley Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post 207 of Spencer. Visitation will be held Friday, October 25, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. till time of service.


The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Avalon Hospice of McMinnville for their love and care of Wayne in these last few months. Flowers would be greatly loved and appreciated by the family. In living memory of Wayne, donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or any No Kill animal shelter near you in memory of his beloved dog Fergie .
