Obituary for Diane D. Duncan
Diane D. Duncan, 58 of Cape Girardeau, passed away Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019 at Southeast Hospital.

She was born December 5, 1960 in Cape Girardeau to Roscoe Matthew and Georgia (Duncan) Dannenmueler.

Diane spent a total of 40 years in the banking industry, the last 15 years of which was with Alliance Bank in Cape Girardeau where she held the title of Assistant Vice President. Diane was extremely passionate about banking, serving customers and the community and touched the hearts of many. She was also a longtime member of the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce and was heavily involved in many local events.

Diane had a glowing personality and a love for life. She was the one who lit up the room with her presence and smile. She loved to dance and this past July, our beloved Star participated in the Community Caring Council's "Dancing with the Show-Me Stars" benefit. Other passions and hobbies of hers included: antique shopping, deck sitting, relaxing at the casino, decorating, being outdoors and of course, anything red.

One of Diane’s greatest joys in life was her son, Dustin Duncan. She lived for him and always said he was her greatest accomplishment in life. Dustin being her one-and-only, she raised him to be strong, ethical, passionate, determined, energetic, loving, friendly, and to greet everyone with a firm hand shake whilst carrying the same infectious smile.

To summarize Dustin and Diane’s relationship below is a message that Dustin shared with Diane in a special moment on his wedding day.

“Mom,

I don’t recognize you enough for being that perfect angel that I always needed in this thing called life.
Your loving heart, warming hugs and that contagious smile always gives me the feeling of one standing by.

No robe of white, no halo in site.
Well, sometimes it seems I miss the most obvious things.
I often ask myself: “am I blind?”
So, I always remind myself: “just look into your mother’s eyes.”

And then I thought, “who went through the pain and the tears on the day of my birth?”
Yea, you counted my fingers and toes and thanked God I was whole.
Mom, you oughta know, I know you loved me first.

And of course, you always came running every time I cried out.
And God knows there’s so many more things I have forgotten about.
And who did their best to teach me wrong from right?

If I do say so myself you did an amazing job.

And how many nights did you leave on the light, while you waited and prayed that I came in safe?
Mom, I know you’ll be there for me right up to the end.

You were my angel from the beginning and I am forever thankful.
Not everyone is blessed to have a mother like you.

Thank you for loving me unconditionally.

I love you, mom.”

Dustin would also like to include the following farewell message to his mother:

“Mom, I promise to continue making you proud, staying strong, and to carry your legacy with a smile until we meet again.”

Loving survivors include her son, Dustin Duncan (Justin Scheper); grandson, Blake; love of her life, Randy Hahs and his sons, Jeremy (Becky) Hahs and Benjamin Hahs; brothers, Rick (Bonnie) Duncan, Ernie (Mary) Duncan and Jimmy (Marilyn) Duncan; nieces and nephews, Cara (Andy) Exler, Jamie (Travis) Green, Rusty Duncan, Lance (Maria) Duncan, Tara (Mike) McClard, Trevor (Steffie) Duncan, Jordan (Britney) Duncan Garrett (Brandi) Duncan, Adam (Catherine) Duncan, Alex (Casey) Duncan; sister-in-law, Debbie Little; feline companion, Molly; and all her beloved friends (too many to list, but you know who you are).

She was preceded in death by her father Roscoe Duncan in 1986; her step-father, Cornelius Dannenmueller in 1992 and most recently on Oct. 5, 2019 her mother, Georgia (Duncan) Dannenmueller.

Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 1, 2019 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home.
